Congratulations to all the Waverley
gymnasts and coaches that competed at the WAG/MAG 2009 Victorian
Championships over the long Weekend, (5th – 8th June). Waverley
ended up with three Victorian Championship team titles and 18 Individual
Victorian All Around/Apparatus champions - wow! Some team highlights
included Waverley winning the National 9, International 6 and Jnr/Snr
International team titles. Some individual highlights included:
at National 9 Jamie Sanders placing 1st AA and Rach Figgis 2nd AA,
at International 3 Emily Whitehead winning Vault and Charlotte Quirk
winning Beam, at International Level 5 Eliza Freeman winning the
AA, at International 6 Sarah Taig winning the AA, at Jnr Int Angela
Donald winning Bars and Rachel Collister winning Floor and at Snr
International Shona winning the AA and Emma Dennis winning Vault!

Watch ex AFL footballers, Jason Dunstall and Danny Frawley displaying their 'gymnastic prowess' at WGC on Fox Sports AFL show 'Before the Bounce'. Click here Congratulations to Simone Greig who was announced Victorian National Stream Head Coach for the upcoming Australian Championships and was elected on to the 2009 WAG Victorian SMC. At the exciting VIS awards night Georgia Bonora was honoured by winning the Gymnastics VIS Head Coach award for her outstanding performance at the Beijing Olympics as the highest placing Australian gymnast at the Olympics. Shona Morgan was also honoured as one of only three finalists for the prestigious 2008 VIS Youth award from amongst all the VIS athletes across every sport under the age of 20. As the only two gymnasts to receive awards in 2008 this is an exceptional achievement. Congratulations girls!!! CONGRATULATIONS to Shona Morgan who was awarded the WAG Sports Management Committee 2008 Victorian International stream gymnast of the year and John Hart who was awarded WAG SMC 2008 Victorian International stream Coach of the year at the WAG SMC Technical day on Sunday 23rd February. Congrats also to Jamie Sanders who was nominated for 2008 WAG SMC National stream gymnast of the year and Jessica Connor who was nominated for 2008 WAG SMC State Stream gymnast of the year!
